My daughter is learning to bake all her favourite things and this basic chocolate chip cookie recipe is one that I’ve shared with her as it’s her favourite afterschool treat. It’s simple to make and they taste delicious so perfect for those learning to cook as well as when you want a really easy recipe to make some delicious chocolate chip cookies. Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies
There are so many recipes for chocolate chip cookes, but each and every time I reach for my grandmothers cook book. After school I would go to her house and she would have these ready with a glass of milk for me – cliche I know but it was the 1980s!


They were delicious and one of the fond memories of my childhood. So I have continues making them for my kids. Now my youngest wants to learn to make them just like Mom! I thought it would be a great time to share the recipe here as well so others can have that taste of the 80s cookies and milk after school.


Ingredients for Mom’s Chocolate Chip Cookies
This recipe makes 24 cookies

- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon table salt
- 1 cup un-salted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips


How to Make Simple Chocolate Chip Cookies
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, and salt). Set aside.


3. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter, sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy.


4. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat to combine.


5. Add the flour mixture to the bowl and beat until just combined.


6. Fold in the chocolate chips.


7. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to scoop out the dough and place the balls on the lined baking sheet.


8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool in the baking sheet for five minutes, then transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
