No Chill Sugar Cookie Recipe
Sugar cookies are one of the easiest cookies to make and this simple recipe for no-chill sugar cookies is perfect for baking any time and great for simple decorations. With a simple buttercream frosting and sprinkles, these are my go-to cookies for an extra treat for the family. So here you go my recipe for quick sugar cookies that don’t need to chill.


Sugar Cookies
Sugar cookies are simple to make but most recipes call for chilling the dough for 30 minutes to an hour. This recipe though doesn’t and allows you to make them much quicker.


The chilling of the dough is used when you need the cookies to hold their shape but in the case of these no-chill sugar cookies, we’re just going to make simple round cookies with some delicious frosting on them.
Sugar Cookie Dough Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoon milk
How to Make no-chill Sugar Cookies
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In the bowl of the stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.


3. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until smooth.


4. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl and mix until smooth.


5. Pour in the milk and mix until fully incorporated.


6. Use a cookie scoop to scoop out the dough and roll it into a ball between your hands. Continue rolling until all the dough has been formed into balls.


7. Bake the cookies in the preheated for 12 to 15 minutes, until the edges of the cookies are just beginning to brown.
8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for five minutes, then transfer them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely before serving.


Buttercream Frosting
Although you could use royal icing to decorate the cookies I want quick and buttercream frosting is so simple to make it’s easy to do and the advantage is it can be stored for a bit as well. So here is my buttercream frosting recipe that I reach for everytime when making cookies.


Buttercream Icing Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Sprinkles (optional for the top of the cookies)


How to Make Buttercream Frosting
1. Beat together the butter and vanilla until creamy.
2. Add one cup of powdered sugar and one tablespoon of milk and beat until smooth.
3. Add the remaining sugar and milk and beat to combine.


4. Decorate the cookies and add some colourful sprinkles if you wish.

- Spread the icing over the top of each cookie in a thin layer and decorate with sprinkles.
