Delicious Red Velvet Cupcake Recipe
I love surprising the family with a Valentine’s Treat and these delicious red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting are just perfect. With an easy recipe to follow these are tasty and the cream cheese frosting isn’t too sweet which is a real bonus so here you go my red velvet cupcake with a smooth cream cheese icing recipe for Valentine’s Day.

This is one of my favorite flavors whether it’s pancakes, waffles, cookies, fudge, cake or cupcake it doesn’t matter Red Velvet is my ultimate one. It’s also relatively easy to make and perfect for sharing with your loved ones for Valentine’s Day. So have a go at making these Valentine Cupcakes with this easy recipe to follow.

Just chocolate and red food coloring are needed to make these vibrant red-colored cakes. They are one of the easiest ways to flavor plain cupcakes.

Ingredients for Making Red Velvet Cupcakes
- 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 bottle red food coloring
- 1 cup buttermilk
Ingredients for the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups powdered sugar
How to Make your Red Velvet Cupcake with Cream Cheese Frosting
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and place liners in two 12-cup muffin pans.

2. Whisk together the flour (I used all-purpose but cake flour will work as well), cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, beat together the oil and sugar until smooth in your electric mixer. Add the eggs, vanilla, and food coloring and beat to combine.

4. Add half the flour, followed by half the buttermilk, beating between each addition. Add remaining flour and remaining buttermilk and beat after each addition.

5. Fill each cupcake liner 2/3 of the way full of batter and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
6. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan until safe to touch, then transfer them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.

When the unfrosted cupcakes are cool, prepare the icing by beating together the butter, cream cheese, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and beat until well incorporated.

Pipe the icing on top of each cupcake before serving.
