Tasty Slow Cooker Beef Stew Recipe
With snow, rain, and wind we’ve been eating lots of comfort food and hearty meals as a family this last month. One of my favourites has been this delicious Beef Stew in the Slow Cooker. It’s the ideal meal to prep in the morning, head out for the day to blow away those cobwebs and come back to a delicious tasty meal in the evening that the whole family enjoys. What’s more this freezes and then we have a quick meal to heat up at a later date. It’s so good and the kids have even asked for it again which in our house with our picky eaters is a real achievement. So here we go our favourite Slow Cooker Beef Stew Recipes for Family Meals.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew for the Family
One of the reasons I love using the slow cooker is that we can save a little money as slow cooking the meat means that cheaper cuts of beef can be used.

We get our meat from the local butchers instead of the supermarket as we’ve discovered how much more meat you get for your money. Unlike the supermarket which add extra water to make their meat look bigger and when cooked the meat shrinks. Or the meat is very fatty so as you cook it the grease flows out the butcher’s meat is wholesome. It’s not pumped full of water, and the mince and even the sausage meat is low in fat so we need less meat or can stretch the same amount of meat further when we buy local.

We use diced beef to make the beef stew and there is normally enough for 1/2 to be frozen and used at a later date.

We either serve with some fresh bread or with potatoes and a side of steamed vegetables. The kids love the bread version though as they use it to draw up the liquids left after cooking.
