What is Goulash
Goulash is a traditional Hungarian soup/stew. It’s a delicious hearty dish that is perfect for winter get a quick overview of this easy beef pasta goulash recipe here.
It’s a mix of meat and vegetables which are hearty and warming, especially with the addition of some spices to the pot, if you can get hold of it the addition of some Hungarian Paprika will add that extra special warmth to it but don’t worry if you can’t it tastes delicious without it.

One Pot Beef Goulash
I love this recipe as it is one pot. Less washing up and means that once I’ve browned the ground beef for the recipe, added in the seasoning and salts it’s just cover and simmer till it’s perfectly cooked.

Make Ahead Goulash
As this is a regular addition to our family meal plans I like to prep ahead and make up the ground beef ahead of time in batches. The beef, onions, and garlic cooked and frozen can then be used in multiple recipes like our cottage pie.

Just use a large skillet and brown the beef, then add in the finely chopped onions and garlic and cook.

Allow to cool and then portion up into contains for the freezer. Then when the goulash is on the menu I get the ground beef out and let it defrost. Then when it’s time to cook, I warm it up before skipping straight to step 3 of the recipe below.
Goulash with Noodles or Pasta
Although it’s probably more traditional to serve with potatoes or rice as the kids prefer pasta I use macaroni noodles or elbow pasta to make this.

I also serve with some homemade bread – our bacon and cheese bread is one of my favorites.
