It’s made with the zest of orange rather than orange extract flavouring so tastes deliciously rich and with the semi-sweet chocolate, it’s got a little bit of darkness to it that is perfect for Christmas. So here you go my favourite recipe for an easy chocolate orange fudge that you can make at home.

Chocolate Orange Fudge Recipe

For years I stepped away from making homemade fudge as the recipes that my grandmother made involved careful temperature monitoring. As a busy mom, I seem to spend a lot of my cooking time sorting out a million problems with the kids as well as the cooking!

Then I discovered how to make easy fudge and I was able to make it from scratch this delicious treat which is an ideal gift for friends and families is so simple it’s nearly foolproof.

In this simple fudge recipe for Christmas treats I made it extra special with a sprinkle of orange zest right on the top, which is perfect for adding just before packaging as Christmas gifts for friends and family.

We’ve made the ingredients as easy as possible to make this fudge, the are as follows.

  • 2 1/2 C Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can sweeten condensed milk ( 14 oz)
  • 2 Tbsp of unsalted butter.  
  • I tsp vanilla 
  • 2 Tbsp fresh orange zest

Is it Like Terry’s Chocolate Orange Fudge?

When you do a search for chocolate orange fudge what often comes up is Terry’s Chocolate Orange Fudge. It’s generally an easy chocolate fudge with slices from the chocolate orange laid in it.

Yes, it tastes delicious but the orange flavour is restricted to the Terry’s Chocolate Orange slice rather than the fudge itself.

This recipe though uses fresh orange zest in the fudge making the whole thing taste just like a fudgy Terry’s Orange.

Easy Chocolate Orange Fudge Recipe

Yield: 16
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

An easy recipe for chocolate and orange fudge that tastes just as good as a Terry's Chocolate Orange.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 C Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can sweeten condensed milk ( 14 oz)
  • 2 Tbsp of unsalted butter.
  • I tsp vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp orange zest

Instructions

  1. Line an 8x8x2-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Using a double boiler melt chocolate chips with condensed milk in the top of the double boiler.
  3. Stir until smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the unsalted butter, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon grated orange peel.
  5. Spread in prepared baking pan. Toss the remaining grated orange peel on the top of the fudge.
  6. Chill until firm.
  7. Carefully remove fudge from pan using the edges of the parchment paper.
  8. Cut into squares.
  9. Store covered in the refrigerator.

Notes

This will store for a couple of weeks in an air tight container in the fridge
