Leftover Turkey Taco Recipe
Who doesn’t love a quick recipe this easy recipe is the perfect way to use up your leftover from thanksgiving dinner. And what’s more it’s ready in just 15 minutes.


You can combine it with traditional taco extra’s, sour cream, lime wedges and some refried black beans. Although why not try mixing it up and using up some extra cranberry sauce as it makes the turkey extra sweet.
Tortillas
As a family we are huge fans of tacos and Mexican food in general, sometimes like for this recipe we use a flour tortilla as they are easy to find in our local shop, however, I’ve also made these with corn tortillas and they make a great meal which reminds us of our trip to Mexico a few years ago. If you have some hard taco shells laying around they will also work well

Our Homemade Taco Seasoning
We love our homemade seasonings and this is one that we can make as we go along. I use it in this and fajitas now as it’s so simple you’re just going to need
- Paprika
- Chili powder – my kids prefer medium heat for their spicy foods but you could use mild or hot chili powder too!
- Cumin powder
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Brown Sugar


Mix all of that together and season the shredded meat in your skillet as you cook no need to marinade or rub before making.

Leftover Turkey Taco Recipe


A delicious and simple recipe ready in 15 minutes for leftover Thanksgiving or Christmas Turkey Tacos
Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1.5 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 2 cups leftover turkey, shredded or finely chopped
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies
- ½ cup chicken broth
For the tacos
- 8 corn or flour tortillas
- Shredded lettuce
- Shredded cheese
- Diced tomatoes
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Stir together the seasonings in a small bowl.
- Add the turkey, seasoning, lime juice, onion, diced tomatoes with chilies, and chicken broth to the skillet and stir to mix.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer until the liquid has been reduced and the onions are cooked through around 10 minutes.
- Serve the turkey on tortillas, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese.
Notes
This recipe works just as well with leftover chicken as with the turkey so can be used regularly as a mid-week dinner. Even shredded rotisserie chicken works well.
