We love making cookies here in the Hey Mom house, and these easy and simple Halloween cookie are so easy to make and the kids love joining in and then eating them all. I used Halloween M&Ms and some candy eyes, but don’t worry if you read down we’ve got some alternative ideas for you. Whether you are making them for a Halloween Treats to share with your trick or treating kids or a Halloween Party they are perfect.

Cookie Making Tips for Halloween!

But first some tips that will make baking these fun Halloween treats perfect!

Soft Butter

You need softened butter for this recipe, but don’t worry if you have forgotten to take the butter out of the fridge, you can microwave it for about 10 seconds or grate it to soften it really quickly.

Extra Spooky Cookies

Do you want to make these cookies a little extra spooky? Then why not add a drop or two of orange, green or purple food colouring to the dough!

Storing the Cookies

If you can resist eating them all at once then these cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Can I Make These Halloween Cookies with Other Candy?

Absolutely! Feel free to get creative and use any Halloween candy or Halloween sprinkles you prefer. Hey, you could even use some candy corn in the mix!

What can I use if I don’t have any Candy Eyes?

You can use white chocolate chips with a dot of dark chocolate in the middle as a fun substitute a make your own candy eyes solution!

Can the Halloween cookie dough be made ahead of time?

Yes! The dough can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Be sure to let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping and baking.

How to Make Easy Halloween Cookies

1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, and sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat to combine.

4. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Beat to mix.

5. Fold in the chocolate chips and M&Ms.

6. Cover the bowl and put in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to chill the dough.

7. Prehead the oven to 350 degrees and then use a cookie scoop to form the dough into balls. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and decorate with more M&Ms and candy eyes.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until the edges are golden brown but the center is still soft.

9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
