Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole
Everyone has fond memories of sizzling hash browns served up on early mornings. Now, imagine infusing those crispy golden bites with flavours of breakfast sausage, smoky bacon, and melted cheddar cheese. Our Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole does just that, ensuring that your breakfast or brunch is nothing short of spectacular.
Why This Simple Breakfast Casserole Is a Must-Try
We love our breakfast casseroles and like our sausage, egg and cheddar casserole this is a delicious savoury breakfast treat, but what makes it stand out?
It blends the comfort morning food of hash browns with the rich and hearty components of a traditional English breakfast. With every bite, you’re treated to a delightful medley of textures – from the crispness of the hash browns and bacon to the soft, flavourful embrace of the sausage and melted cheese.

Can I use fresh grated potatoes instead of frozen hash browns in this Hash Brown Casserole?
Of Course! Fresh grated potatoes can be a great substitute. Just ensure they’re rinsed and dried to remove excess starch, which will help maintain that desirable crispy texture.
What’s the best way to store leftover Hash Brown, Sausage and Bacon Casserole?
If you have leftovers, we don’t very often, then just cover the casserole dish with plastic wrap or aluminium foil and refrigerate. Leftovers should be consumed within 3-4 days for the best taste and freshness.

How do I know if the casserole is fully cooked?
This is a question my kids ask especially with eggs and potatoes in it – you really don’t want a runny casserole or hard potatoes. So fully cooked the casserole should be golden on top and set in the middle. A knife or toothpick inserted in the centre should come out relatively clean.

Suggestions to Elevate Your Breakfast Casserole
Although we love this just as it is, I’ve also mixed it up a little bit and here are a few suggestions that my kids and husband loved.
Spicy Breakfast Casserole
If you like a little kick to your food why not add a little diced jalapenos or some chilli flakes to the sausage when you are browning it.
Swap the Cheese
Although I’ve always got some cheddar in my fridge it’s great to switch out the cheese, pepper jack, Swiss and gouda work really well with this and add a different taste to the dish than the cheddar does.

Add some Veggies
Whether you want to substitute the meat completely with mushrooms or similar or just want to add in a little extra vegetables like sweet peppers, spinach or courgettes it’s the perfect addition to the breakfast casserole.
