One of the top tips for making waffles in your waffle iron is NEVER use a non-stick spray! It damages the waffle iron.


Instead, just some sunflower oil, a silicone brush, and lightly coat the pan so that it keeps its non-stick surface and you don’t damage it.

Halloween Pumpkin Pie Waffles for Kids


A spooky recipe for a Halloween dessert to make in the waffle iron. These Pumpkin Pie Halloween Waffles are perfect to serve the kids before trick or treating this year.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup pumpkin puree
- 1 cup milk
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 2 egg whites
- Orange food coloring
- Halloween sprinkles
- Candy eyes
- Whipped cream
Instructions
- Preheat waffle iron.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the pumpkin, milk, buttermilk, and melted butter.
- Add the pumpkin mixture to the flour mixture and add a small amount of orange food coloring to tint the batter. Whisk until just combined.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer on high speed until bubbly.
- Add the egg whites to the batter and carefully fold into the mixture.
- Spray the waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray and scoop the batter onto the hot iron. Cook for 3 to 5
minutes, until the waffle iron stops steaming. Continue cooking until all the batter has been used. - Serve waffles topped with whipped cream, Halloween sprinkles, and candy eyes.
