Gingerbread Waffle Recipe for the Holidays
Is gingerbread one of your favorite flavors? Then you have to try these delicious gingerbread waffles. I made them last year for our family Polar Express breakfast and the kids loved them! The gingerbread spices and molasses make these taste just like gingerbread men but much fluffy like Belgian Waffles. So here you go my recipe for Holiday Gingerbread Waffles.

Holiday Waffle Recipe
I love using our waffle iron, unlike pancakes which always end up with a mess all over the kitchen the waffles maker stays in one place, and then I can put together delicious breakfast and desserts with it easily.

These holiday waffles we made at the start of Advent last year for the first time as I put together a little Polar Express breakfast for the kids before we watched the movie for the first time.
Unlike my Christmas Tree Waffles which are fun and the kids love having on Christmas Eve morning these are great for dessert or breakfast the choice is yours.

Gingerbread Waffle Ingredients
I tried to make these as near to gingerbread men tasting as possible but still keep them with the texture of Belgian waffles. You can adjust the spices to your taste but this is inspired by my favorite gingerbread house and men recipe from my grandma.
- flour (all purpose)
- baking powder
- baking soda
- salt
- ground ginger
- ground cinnamon
- ground nutmeg
- ground cloves
- butter, melted and slightly cooled
- molasses
- brown sugar
- buttermilk
- eggs

Unlike other waffle recipes, I've shared where I use the egg whites to add air to the mixture because of the brown sugar and molasses you need a bit of baking powder and baking soda to give it the rise.

Although I made these last year in our normal waffle makes - this may have slipped into my basket for this year's waffles because HOW CUTE, are they! I also saw this one as well but I think for this waffle recipe for the holidays the first is so much better. Don't you agree?
Easy Gingerbread Waffles
So this is a holiday recipe, I know you are probably crazy busy this time of the year but want to make little special things for the kids. Well this recipe will take you just 5 minutes to mix up and then for the 5 waffles about 25 minutes it's mainly waiting for them to cook.

Keeping your Christmas Waffles Warm for a Special Holiday Breakfast
You can serve them individually to the kids when they come off the iron, but if you are doing a special holiday breakfast you may want to keep them warm. Just put the oven on low place a plate in there and that will keep the waffles warm.

What to Serve your Gingerbread Waffles with

I served these with maple syrup, whipped cream, and some Christmas sprinkles.
